|A Little About My Church . . .
I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints -
you may know me as a "Mormon."
If you don't know much about my church, you can go to Mormon.org and find a nice introduction.
If you do know all about us, then go to LDS.org and read over our shoulder.
Most of the world thinks of Christianity as two major groups:
Catholic or Protestant.
But this just isn't true. There are also the Orthodox churches.
And, there are those referred to as Restorationist churches - those who believe they were not derived
or broken away from a previous church, but that Divine messengers restored the church through a
prophet. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a Restorationist church - we believe that
God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to a young man who became a prophet, and
through him they restored the church as Christ had established it during His mortal ministry.
You can read about this young man named Joseph Smith on this page at Mormon.org.
You can read his own telling of the events here.
